Serve Others – Faith Connections
Faith Connections is comprised of representatives from different faith traditions who share a common goal of creating healthy communities. The group is managed by Maija Yasui, Prevention Coordinator for the Hood River County Commission on Children and Families. Faith Connection members meet monthly to share ideas and distribute grant funding. Riverside has been a member of the organization for over six years, and has received grant funding for many community outreach endeavors; an after-school program for children called Logos, Our Whole Lives, which provides comprehensive sex education for teens and a grant to create a new play structure at the county park adjacent to Riverside. Riversiders have also traveled to Washington, D.C. as representatives of Faith Connections to take part in the annual CADCA conference.(Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America).
Our Director of Christian Nurture, Elaine Thompson, is our representative at Faith Connections.
